Kit

This is my little kit to start the fire. E 'consists of a tinder-box (although it would be more accurate to call firesteel ), a lighter, a dozen of matches (and the sealed container with flint embedded in the bottom) and an additional watertight container (the white one) to 'inside of which there are many cotton balls soaked in vaseline oil.

Everything is easily carried in a leather bag, completely handmade (1).

Theoretically, a fire quickly and in any condition, the lock would be sufficient and cotton balls soaked in oil. But as for me, the moment a fire is lit also varies according to the inspiration of the moment, so to speak, I also added more immediate use tools. Furthermore, it is a kit of "survival", so it must be minimal.

haversack I made this for short walks "wild", when the equipment is often minimized, being predominantly of food and little else.
sewn entirely by hand, is a single pocket of about 30x25x10 cm, closed by a flap which is attached a brass buckle (1). strap is made of leather, and in this case (once again living up to that set out in note 1), I had to "improvise" a system of adjusting the length, because I had the greatest style buckles with the front: they are two parallel rows of equidistant holes on which a braided leather loop, and combining the many pairs of holes, adjusting the length of the boundary.


(1) originally buckles should have been two, but given the size of the bag, I decided to post one, as two were too close. Everything, as always, in keeping with the definition provided by craftsman M. Ridolfi: " A craftsman is one who processes while achieving, otherwise it is just a performer. "
