The puukko is the classic hunting knife / fixed blade work, traditionally associated with Scandinavian populations. The most interesting feature in my opinion is the date from the handle, usually made up of rocks of birch wood, with inserts in bone, horn or brass.
Apart from the traditional works, I personally appreciate this kind of handle in because you can use almost any material, having as its only limit (buon!
) taste. Moreover, they are relatively easy to build, and this fits in with the achievements housewives. Again, this is the "restoration" of an old kitchen knife. Indeed, to be precise, it is a second "restoration" because many years ago I made a simple wooden handle.

The final shape of the handle was a bit 'rounded (perhaps a bit' too pregnant!), But my big hands do not appreciate at all the thin handles.

The sheath is made of style "Scandinavian", since it had no way to achieve a "classic", with side seam. I used the natural leather tanned in a neutral color (which has unfortunately required a double dye with a specific dye for leather, relatively toxic). The realization did not present any particular difficulty, helped by the fact that the wet leather takes it very flexible.
